Tom was a lovely and humble man. He did legal work for my family and was beyond helpful. During difficult times, Tom was an anchor. He stood by and believed us. He was so meticulous in all he did. Afterwards we would see him socially and enjoyed spending time with him. What an amazing capacity for learning he had - always learned something new from Tom. He was kind and left his imprint on you. Q: How did you meet Thomas? A: I met Thomas over the chess board at the 2014 NY State Chess Championship in Albany. After the game he asked if I wanted to have dinner with him. Well, I told him sure if I could bring my wife along which of course he agreed to. We all had an enjoyable dinner at Red Lobster across from the hotel. It was a very pleasant meal with great conversation about his chess experiences in the chess mecca of New York City and many other topics. For a few more years after this we always looked for Tom at the NY tournament over Labor Day Weekend and would walk with him over to the Red Lobster for a good meal and conversation. We were sad to not see him there for the last several years. Tom was a true gentleman. We are so sad to hear he has left us and know anyone who knew him feels as we do. Thank you for sharing this story, Ron! Those chess tournaments were always a highlight of Dad’s year, and I know it was because of the connections he made, more than just the game. I never knew he liked Red Lobster, but he always enjoyed company at the dinner table! So appreciate your kind words.

We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have fond memories of our many train rides into the city together over the years and Tom's humor and wisdom. Tom was a kind and generous soul and will be missed Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Steve and Mary Lazare

Tommy was a warm and loving person. He would call occasionally and always on holidays to keep in touch. We had long conversations about books we had read, always interesting. He was my first cousin and we saw each other more frequently when his parents were alive, but he made a point to keep a close family relationship over the years. I will miss him. Hazel Sherwin Stix
