Obituary of Charles J. Eichenberg
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles J. Eichenberg, age 70 passed away on May 5, 2018. He was born on July 1, 1947 in Parkchester (Bronx), NY to Charles and Peggy Eichenberg. Charlie attended St. Helena’s High School and went on to graduate John Carroll University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Following college, he served honorably in the National Guard as he began his career as a food purveyor. Chas, as his father affectionately called him met the love of his life Gloria Alvado and the two were married in 1971 and together they had two children; Scott and Kimm. Charles rose through the ranks of Fancy Foods, culminating in his position as President. In between working, youth coaching and cheering the Giants and Yankees, he could be seen on the links with Pancho, John T. and John Fitz. Charles and Gloria spent their time between Valeria (NY) and the Delray Summit (FL). Charlie served on both Board of Directors and was always complimented for his eloquent ways of keeping things moving and improving both Condominiums. Charlie became Pop E in 2000 when the first of his four grandchildren were born. He was a doting grandfather and loved every minute with all of his grandchildren. He was a permanent fixture on the Yorktown sidelines and rumor has it some of the YAC Football coaches called him for his post-game comments. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gloria; son Scott; daughter Kimm; son-in-law Chris; sister Barbara (Evans); grandchildren, Katie Rose, Sean Christopher, Ryan Trace and Charlotte Jane; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home (414 Washington St., Peekskill) on Wednesday, May 9th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 10:00am, Church of the Holy Spirit (1969 Crompond Rd, Cortlandt Manor). Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Sports and “the love of the game” brought much enjoyment to Charlie. For those who wish to make a donation in his name, please send to The Yorktown Huskers Club (PO Box 32, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598).
