It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of George T. Cleantis, Beloved builder of homes, hearts, and lifelong friendships
George T. Cleantis of Garrison, NY, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in the Bronx, George carried the spirit of the city in his heart and the quiet beauty of the Hudson Valley in his soul.
A devoted craftsman and entrepreneur, George was the proud founder of Cross Timbers, where he combined his talents as both an architect and a hands-on builder. His passion wasn't just in construction; it was in creation. He didn’t build houses; he built homes. Each space reflected his belief that warmth, intention, and beauty could be felt in wood, stone, and light.
George was a man of deep generosity and quiet strength. He loved nature, family, and friendship with equal measure, and lived each day with care and purpose. For over 40 years, he shared a bond of unwavering loyalty and love with his lifelong best friend and companion, Kevin Murray.
He is also survived by his beloved son Rudy Duarte, Rudy’s wife Julia Duarte, and his treasured grandson Luca Duarte, who brought him endless pride and joy.
George’s Catholic faith was a quiet but steady light in his life. He lived simply, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy not only of buildings, but of belonging.
Family and friends are invited to a wake on Friday, August 8, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:30 am at Franciscan Sisters Church in Peekskill, followed by a procession to Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
