It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence Vito Gasparro, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Larry departed peacefully after a brief illness on September 8th, 2025 with his family at his side.
He was born on November 6th, 1939, in Peekskill to Lorenzo Vito Gasparro and Lucia Anita Scivoletto Gasparro and was raised in Peekskill with his three sisters; he graduated from Peekskill High School in 1957.
Larry followed his parents into the family business, "Larry's Bakery" on Washington St. in Peekskill, where they served the community for decades. The bakery specialized in making Italian pastries, cookies, wedding/celebration cakes, and other specialty custom treats. Larry competed in semi-professional bodybuilding competitions, winning a number of achievement awards.
Later in life, Larry owned and operated a small health club, "Hudson Valley Gym" where he provided members with support in building strength through resistance training using free weights and machines.
He enjoyed helping people achieve their strength and fitness goals.
Larry is survived by his three daughters, Angela Gasparro DeHayes, Laura Gasparro Dowd, and Patricia Verrigni (Alex). He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Philip and Lauren DeHayes; Kaila, Kellie and James Dowd; and Alexandra and Emma Verrigni. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Michael, Alyssa, Kennedy, Lainey, and Ava. Larry is survived by his loving sister, Annette Gasparro, and was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Gasparro Boyle and Virginia (Ginger) Gasparro. He also leaves behind a nephew, Philip Boyle Jr., and a niece, Christine Boyle Dubrisingh as well as his brother-in-law, Philip Boyle Sr.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
