Rudolph Andrew Lutterschmidt Obituary

Rudolph Andrew Lutterschmidt,  78, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2025. He was born and raised in Philadelphia. "Rudy" was the only child of Rudolph J. Lutterschmidt and Theresa Uivary who predeceased their son by many years.

A proud graduate of Father Judge High School, Rudy attended  Syracuse University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting and graduated in 1969. It was at SU that Rudy met his beloved wife, Florence Spinola, to whom he was married for more than a half century. Florence was honored to be at Rudy's bedside when he passed into eternal life.

Rudy began his professional career in Philadelphia as a novice public accountant,  a field he soon realized was not for him. He moved into more diverse areas of business management and administration. In recent decades, he worked as the Chief Financial Officer for Safeguard System 's International Division. Post Safeguard, Rudy assumed the VP, CFO position at No-Copi Technologies located in King of Prussia, PA. He retired in 2023 from No-Copi but continued to consult for the following year. Finally free of work responsibilities, Rudy, a global explorer, looked forward to additional travel through Europe, Australia,  Hawaii,  and the beautiful USA mainland.

Almost a year ago, Rudy and Florence moved to Southernmost  Delaware and adopted a coastal lifestyle. Rudy quickly became a favorite with his new neighbors and their furry friends. He had found his "happy place". He knew the"pups" by name before he memorized the names of the "moms and dads" who walked them! Rudy was quite simply a treasure--an intelligent, charming, engaging man of firm conviction and great faith. He possessed a dry sense of humor, as fun-loving as he was serious.

He enjoyed dining out and discovering new restaurants. Museums, music, and theater all held a special appeal. He loved History and Geography; he devoured non-fiction. No matter how busy, he found time to follow his favorite sports teams--the Phillies and the Eagles, of course. Yet, for all his talent and accomplishment, Rudy remained an extremely modest person. He was truly humble.

In addition to his wife, Rudy is survived by his sister-in-law, Marianne, and her husband, Barry Jasilli of Oakbrook Terrace, IL.  They were the siblings he never had. He loved their two daughters, Dana Carvalho of Lincoln, R.I. and Brittany Underwood of Elmhurst, IL. as if they were his own. He is also survived by two adorable great nieces, Alexa Rose Carvalho and Kaia Grace Carvalho of Lincoln, R.I. The little ones always brought a smile to his face and a sparkle to his eyes. Although predeceased by all the aunts and uncles in his own family, Rudy treated Florence's lone surviving uncle, John Mancini of Lincoln, R.I. with love and respect.

Rudy also leaves behind several generations of cousins and many friends who grieve his sudden death.

Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church,  1571 Temple Drive, Maple Glen, Pa., on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
