William Shaw Fagan Obituary

William Shaw Fagan Obituary

William “Billy” Fagan passed away on January 27, 2026. He is survived by his children, Eric Fagan and Vanessa Donato, and his four grandchildren, William Donato, John Power, Patrick Power (Vanessa Donato), and Ryan Fagan (Eric Fagan).

Billy was a dedicated employee of Con Edison and a member of Local 1-2 for 33 years. Starting in his younger years, working in the city powerhouses, working his way up to senior substation operator, manning several stations throughout Westchester. He amassed many close friends during his long career. Many are so close as to be considered family to him. Or as we like to say, our “Con Ed” family.

Billy was a gifted musician, playing the piano and organ. Despite never learning to read music, Billy’s talented ear and mastery of the keys enabled him play anything from classical to rock. He could often play an entire piece to perfection, just by hearing it once. His melodies brought us together, and we all will forever cherish his rendition of Billy Joel’s timeless classic, “Piano Man”. Billy was a member of numerous bands throughout his life; his most recent band, Graymoor, thrilled our friends, family and neighborhood with their unforgettable classic rock performances, tributing Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, among many others.

In his later years, as his aging body failed him, he could no longer play. Those closest to him knew what a great pain that must have been to lose the gift of song that defined him for much of his life. His passing, while sad and painful, brings us some solace in knowing he is finally at peace.

May his soul rest peacefully, filled with the joy of the lifetime of music he has made.
