Lorraine G. Vezina of Mahopac, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She was 93 years of age, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Peekskill, NY, on December 14, 1932, to John and Florence Galati.

Lorraine attended schools in Peekskill, NY went on to graduate from Peekskill High School in 1950. 

After High School, Lorraine attended the State Teachers College of New Paltz, NY, where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Phi fraternity. 

On March 20, 1954, she married her husband, Donald W. Vezina.

She then went on to teach the blind braille for three school districts: Hendrick Hudson, Lakeland, and Peekskill. Lorraine then went on to teach at the Mahopac Elementary School system for 25 years.

Lorraine became an active member of the American Association of University Women throughout her teaching career.

After retiring, she and her husband, Donald, became members of the Peekskill Yacht Club.  

She is survived by her three Sons: Donald W. Vezina Jr. (Nannette) of Peekskill, Richard W. Vezina (Patti) of Purdys, NY, and Rodney J. Vezina of Surfside Beach, SC. Grandchildren: Tyler Vezina, Trevor Vezina, Donald Vezina III, Melissa. Two great-grandchildren,  and many loving Nieces and Nephews. 

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Vezina, and four brothers: Salvatore Galati, Joe Galati (Ceil), Anthony Galati (Jerry), Frank Galati (Virginia), three sisters: Genevie Palmer (Vincent), Audrey Cothren (Harry), Althea Snowden (Bill), and sister-in-law Vivien Weiler (Ralph)  

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. 

Chapel Service will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 am.

Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
