Guadalupe “Lupe” Ortiz, 74, of Peekskill, New York, passed away on July 19, 2026. 

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, and woman of unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Above all, Lupe loved her family. They were the center of her life and her greatest joy. A true “guerrera”—a warrior—she faced life with remarkable strength, courage, and determination, always guided by her deep faith.

Lupe found great joy in her work as an educator, where her loving and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many children.

But her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Stella, Sawyer, Ruby, and Noah, whom she loved beyond measure.

Lupe is lovingly survived by her daughter, Lissette G. Fernández (Eric); her son, Nelson R. Fernández (Erin); her beloved grandchildren, Stella, Sawyer, Ruby, and Noah; her mother, Cornelia Alicia Gómez Ortiz; and her former spouse, Nelson L. Fernández Lovato, with whom she remained close and shared a lasting bond.

She was predeceased by her father, Juan Bautista Ortiz Navarrete.

Lupe will be remembered for her strength, her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the faith that carried her throughout her life. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace in the loving presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She fought with courage. She loved with her whole heart. She lived for her family. And through it all, she kept her faith.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

Her love, strength, and faith will live on in her family forever.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566 on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption, 920 1st Street, Peekskill, NY 1056 on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:30 am.

Private Cremation Ceremony to follow.

Fue una madre y abuela dedicada, una educadora de vocación y una mujer de fe inquebrantable en Jesús Cristo. Por encima de todo, Lupe amaba a su familia. Su familia era el centro de su vida y su mayor alegría. Una verdadera “guerrera,” enfrentó la vida con una fortaleza, valentía y determinación extraordinarias, siempre guiada por su profunda fe.

Lupe encontró una gran satisfacción en su labor como educadora, donde su espíritu amoroso y dedicado tocó la vida de muchos niños.

Pero una de sus mayores alegrías fue ser abuela de Stella, Sawyer, Ruby y Noah, a quienes amó inmensamente.

Lupe deja con amor a su hija, Lissette G. Fernández (Eric); a su hijo, Nelson R. Fernández (Erin); a sus queridos nietos, Stella, Sawyer, Ruby y Noah; a su madre, Cornelia Alicia Gómez Ortiz; y a su exesposo, Nelson L. Fernández, con quien mantuvo una relación cercana y un vínculo duradero.

Fue precedida en la muerte por su padre, Juan Bautista Ortiz Navarrete.

Lupe será recordada por su fortaleza, su corazón amoroso, su devoción a la familia y la fe que la sostuvo a lo largo de toda su vida. Su familia encuentra consuelo al saber que ahora descansa en paz en la amorosa presencia de su Señor y Salvador, Jesús Cristo.

Luchó con valentía. Amó con todo su corazón. Vivió por su familia. Y, a través de todo, mantuvo su fe.

Su amor, su fortaleza y su fe vivirán para siempre en su familia.

El velatorio tendrá lugar en la funeraria Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, ubicada en 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566, el domingo 26 de julio de 2026, de 3:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m.

La misa funeral se celebrará en la iglesia Church of the Assumption, situada en 920 1st Street, Peekskill, NY 10566, el lunes 27 de julio de 2026 a las 11:30 a. m.

A continuación, se llevará a cabo una ceremonia de cremación privada.
