Carol B. Hearle, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 94 after a brief illness. 

Carol was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Maximillian and Blanche Bernhofer on July 23, 1931.   She spent a happy childhood living among her extended family.

Her father moved his family to Croton-on-Hudson, NY, where she spent her adolescence and graduated from Croton Harmon High School.

After graduation, Carol decided to use her organizational, writing, and personal skills to attend Wesley College in Dover, DE for a two-year program in secretarial studies.

After one year, Carol decided to leave college and go out to take on the world.  She quickly got a job as an executive secretary in the personnel department at General Electric in NYC.  Carol loved the excitement, commute, and wardrobe that her New York City position required.  She made many long-lasting friendships during this time in her life. 

Carol also met another Croton Harmon HS alumnus, Arthur Clive Hearle III, and they married in 1952. 

They spent many years moving around NY, MA, and OH for Arthur’s job. In 1958 Carol had her first child and put all of her skills and positive energy into motherhood.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2019.

Carol is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly (Nicholas) Monforti, Kristie (Michael) Simco, and Kory (Jon) Shaw. Carol was blessed with four grandchildren, Nicole Monforti Boniello, Christopher Simco, Carly Fog, and Hudson Shaw.  As well as her grandchildren, Carol was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Deameon Boniello, Olivia Simco, Anneli Fog, and Mikkel Fog.

 The family will have a private memorial service at Nardone Funeral Home.  

Carol’s family requests that if you would like to honor her life or pay respects, that you please make a donation in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. 

Carol was a long-time contributor to their work, believing every child deserved a chance at a healthy life.
