George W. Gallagher, "Dawd, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, after a courageous battle against cancer for the past six years. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

George was born on July 28, 1955, to Charles B and Roberta E. Gallagher of Peekskill, NY, and was a lifelong Peekskill resident until recently, when he relocated to Brookside Senior Co-Op in Cold Spring, NY.

George was a friend to everyone he met. He was a kind and gentile person, willing to help anyone he could. His sense of Humor was subtle, joyful, and very "Irish." A retired Mechanic, he enjoyed working on cars, the friendship of neighbors, and anytime spent with his beloved family. 

George was known as "Dawdy, or Dawd", to his sisters and closest friends or "Uncle Dawd" to his nieces and nephews, including a grandnephew and grandniece.

He is survived by his heartbroken sisters, Charlann (Chy) Charland (James) of Broadalbin, NY; Erin Newton (Alexander) of North Stonington, CT; and Lynn Gilchrist (James) of Mahopac, NY; Nieces, Jamie Charland Bauman (Steven), Kayla Newton Stewart (John), and Casey Gilchrist; Nephews, Ryan Charland, Thomas Newton, and James Gilchrist (Lexi); Grandnephew Connor Bauman; Grandniece Charlotte Bauman, who will miss him terribly.

To George, Family was the center of his life.

The family will celebrate his precious life with a private Catholic service and request that all who loved him kindly keep him in their prayers and loving thoughts.
