It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nelida Sobral, who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 86. 

Nelida was known for her strong will and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Fiercely independent and determined, those who loved her knew well that her stubborn streak was simply part of what made her who she was. 

She embraced life with enthusiasm and found great joy in traveling to her home country, Uruguay, spending time at the beach and making memories with those she loved. Her vivacious spirit and adventurous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. 

Throughout her life, she demonstrated remarkable resilience and an unwavering devotion to her family. After her daughter immigrated to the United States from Uruguay, she made the journey herself to be by her side, beginning a new chapter of life with the same courage and determination that defined her. She worked tirelessly, cleaning homes with dedication and pride. Although English was not her first language, she learned enough to communicate with her clients, often finding creative and heartfelt ways to connect with them. Her perseverance, resourcefulness, and warm spirit earned the respect and appreciation of those whose homes she cared for. 

She had a generous heart and found happiness in giving to others. Whether it was sharing treats, offering thoughtful gifts, or finding small ways to brighten someone’s day, giving was simply part of who she was. 

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She found strength and comfort in her relationship with Him. She also delighted in the little blessings life seemed to offer, believing in good luck and finding joy and hope in the small moments that made life feel special. 

Above all, she will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with her family and friends. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that the legacy she leaves behind lives on in the kindness she showed, the lives she touched, and the memories that will forever be cherished. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Teodomiro Umpierrez and Francisca Bermudez, as well as her beloved husband, Jose Sobral. 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Dora Sobral; her cherished granddaughter, Elizabeth Santiago; her beloved son-in-law, Donald Eickler; and her two principitos, Kenneth and Hunter, whom she adored. 

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. 

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:00 am

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Nelida Sobral, quien partió de este mundo el 29 de julio de 2026, a la edad de 86 años.

Nelida era conocida por su carácter fuerte y por no tener miedo de expresar lo que pensaba. Ferozmente independiente y decidida, quienes la amaban sabían que su terquedad era simplemente parte de lo que la hacía ser quien era.

Abrazó la vida con entusiasmo y encontró una inmensa alegría viajando a su país natal, Uruguay, disfrutando de sus playas y creando recuerdos inolvidables junto a las personas que amaba. Su espíritu vivaz y su corazón aventurero dejaron una huella imborrable en todos aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerla.

A lo largo de su vida, demostró una extraordinaria fortaleza y una inquebrantable devoción por su familia. Después de que su hija emigrara a los Estados Unidos desde Uruguay, ella también emprendió ese viaje para estar a su lado, comenzando un nuevo capítulo de su vida con el mismo valor y la misma determinación que siempre la caracterizaron. Trabajó incansablemente limpiando hogares con dedicación y orgullo. Aunque el inglés no era su lengua materna, aprendió lo suficiente para comunicarse con sus clientes, encontrando a menudo maneras creativas y sinceras de conectar con ellos. Su perseverancia, ingenio y calidez le ganaron el respeto y el aprecio de las personas cuyos hogares cuidó.

Tenía un corazón generoso; dar a los demás era una de sus mayores alegrías. Ya fuera compartiendo dulces, ofreciendo regalos con cariño o encontrando pequeñas maneras de alegrarle el día a alguien, dar era simplemente parte de su esencia.

Su fe en Jesucristo fue el fundamento de su vida. Encontró fortaleza y consuelo en su relación con Él. También disfrutaba de las pequeñas bendiciones que la vida parecía ofrecerle; creía en la buena suerte y encontraba alegría y esperanza en esos pequeños momentos que hacían la vida especial.

Por encima de todo, será recordada por su fortaleza, resiliencia, generosidad, fe inquebrantable y el amor que compartió con su familia y amigos. Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de tristeza, encontramos consuelo al saber que el legado que deja vivirá en la bondad que demostró, en las vidas que tocó y en los recuerdos que siempre atesoraremos.

Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, Teodomiro Umpierrez y Francisca Bermúdez, así como por su amado esposo, José Sobral.

Le sobreviven su querida hija, Dora Sobral; su adorada nieta, Elizabeth Santiago; su querido yerno, Donald Eickler; y sus dos amados principitos, Kenneth y Hunter, a quienes adoraba profundamente.

La extrañaremos profundamente, la amaremos por siempre y vivirá eternamente en nuestros corazones.

El velatorio tendrá lugar en la funeraria Joseph F. Nardone el lunes 3 de agosto de 2026, de 3:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m.

La misa funeral se celebrará en la iglesia de la Asunción (Church of the Assumption) el martes 4 de agosto de 2026 a las 10:00 a. m.

A continuación, tendrá lugar el sepelio en el cementerio de la Asunción (Assumption Cemetery).
