Jerry Reinlieb passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by his family and a house full of love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and light.

Jerry was born on July 1, 1945, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to Sue and Alex Reinlieb. He grew up alongside his brother, Joel, and attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City. It was there that Jerry’s lifelong passion for photography took shape—a passion he turned into a fulfilling professional career and continued to cherish throughout his life. As a young photographer, Jerry seamlessly combined his eye for imagery with his love of music. In 1965, he captured history through his lens, photographing Bob Dylan during his landmark concert at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens. Music remained a cornerstone of Jerry’s life, with favorites ranging from The Kingston Trio and Simon & Garfunkel to Neil Diamond and Bruce Springsteen.

Jerry married Ilene Reinlieb in 1968, and together they had two children, Stacy Reinlieb LaMuniere, born in 1970, and David Reinlieb, born in 1974. Jerry spent much of his career as a photographer at New York Medical College. Never one to fully step away from his craft or his work ethic after retiring from NYMC, he went on to work at Sam’s Camera in Mount Kisco and later at the Sony Store in Manhattan.

Jerry and Ilene eventually divorced, and in 1990 Jerry married Patricia Yarusso. Together they welcomed their daughter, Hayley Reinlieb, in 1994.

While photography was a central passion, Jerry’s enthusiasm for life spanned many interests. In his younger years, he was a strong swimmer, a skilled water skier, and an avid hiker and cyclist. During his years at New York Medical College, he loved playing on the company softball team. Jerry also had a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of the world around him—particularly hummingbirds, owls, lighthouses, and waterfalls. He loved dogs, enjoyed smoking his pipe for many years, and was a faithful fan of Star Trek, M*A*S*H, and Deadwood. Some of his happiest moments were the simplest ones: sharing laughs and catching up on Seinfeld with his dear friends and neighbors of more than 25 years, Bob and Martha Klein.

More than any hobby or professional achievement, Jerry will be remembered for the person he was. Warm, kind, thoughtful, and remarkably modest, he had an effortless way of making people feel at ease. He possessed a sharp wit, a fantastic sense of humor, and a wonderfully sarcastic edge that kept everyone laughing. Negativity and pessimism simply weren’t in his nature; even throughout his illness, Jerry maintained the positivity, sharp humor, and warmth that defined his entire life. Above all, he was exceptionally proud to be a grandfather to his two grandsons, Ayden and Jace.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Sue and Alex Reinlieb. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Reinlieb; his children, Stacy Reinlieb LaMuniere and her husband, Michael; David Reinlieb and his wife, Chantal Kullman Reinlieb; and Hayley Reinlieb and her life partner, Jeffrey Robinson; his beloved grandsons, Ayden and Jace; his brother, Joel Reinlieb, and his wife, Seena; and his niece, Lori Busch.

There will be no traditional funeral service. Instead, Jerry’s family will hold a Celebration of Life gathering at a future date, where family and friends can gather to share stories, laugh, and celebrate a life that brought immeasurable joy to everyone who knew him.
