It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Richard Schrade, who passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2026.

Frederick was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, collector, car enthusiast, and, perhaps above all, storyteller.

To his family, he was so much more.

Born in Yonkers, New York, on November 26, 1946, Frederick was raised in a traditional Italian family and remained immensely proud of his heritage and his Yonkers roots throughout his life. Family was at the center of his world from the very beginning. He was devoted to his mother, father, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and later loved sharing stories about those years with his own children and grandchildren. And when Frederick told a story, he always knew exactly how much embellishment it needed to make it just a little bit better.

Frederick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. The relationships and friendships he formed during that chapter of his life remained important to him, and he maintained some of them until his passing.

Sharp, quick-witted, confident, and when he was younger fast driver, Frederick earned the nickname “Fast Freddy.” It fit him perfectly. He had a big personality, an unmistakable voice, a collection of unforgettable catchphrases, and a presence that filled a room. Those who loved him often found themselves doing their best impression of him—and always out of affection. Frederick was the kind of person you met once and remembered forever.

He was also the type of “know-it-all” you actually listened to—because when Frederick knew something, he knew it well.

Frederick's greatest pride, however, was his family. Everything revolved around his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Schrade, and his two sons, Luke Schrade and Joseph Schrade. He was an incredibly proud father who wanted nothing more than to provide for his family, spend time with them, and give them a life filled with experiences and memories.

Whether he was coaching his boys, traveling for their sports, creating unimaginable Christmas mornings, or simply making sure his family had everything they needed, Frederick loved to give. Providing for the people he loved was never an obligation to him—it was one of the ways he showed his love.

Frederick built F&F Electrical Contractor Corp., a business that became an important part of his life's work. He brought both of his sons into that world and shared his knowledge, work ethic, and experience with them. His son Joseph would ultimately follow in his father's footsteps and continue in the electrical contracting business.

Outside of work, Frederick had an appreciation for the things that captured his interest. He was an avid collector and a lifelong car enthusiast, and when something fascinated him, he wanted to know everything about it. He had strong opinions, endless knowledge, and usually a story to go along with both.

But Frederick may have been at his very best sitting around a table surrounded by family.

He was the ultimate storyteller. He could hold everyone's attention, retelling stories everyone had heard before but somehow still wanted to hear again. There would be laughter, interruptions, exaggerations, arguments over exactly how something happened—and, inevitably, another story.

Frederick was loved and respected by so many people throughout his life. He was generous, charismatic, funny, fiercely devoted to his family, and completely and unapologetically himself.

To his son Luke, “My dad was always my hero. I always wanted and still want to be like my dad.”

That may be the simplest way to describe the enormous place Frederick held in the lives of those closest to him.

Frederick Richard Schrade—Fast Freddy—made an unforgettable first impression and lived an unforgettable life. His stories, his voice, his sayings, his generosity, his larger-than-life personality, and most importantly, his love for his family will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Chapel Service to take place on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 5:00 pm during the hours of visitation.

Entombment and Rendering of Military Funeral Honors, the Playing of Taps, followed by the Flag Folding and Presentation Ceremony  to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4199 Webster Ave, Bronx, NY 10470 on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 am.
