Calogero Terrana Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, father, and nonno Calogero Terrana on August 18, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on March 24, 1936, in Favara, Sicily, he lived through wartime and austerity. After serving in the Italian military, he emigrated to the US to join his family in Pleasantville, NY. He worked at the experimental chicken farm in South Salem, NY, and GM Tarrytown. In 1969, he married Serafina Strazzeri in Giardini-Naxos, Sicily, and brought her to the US. They moved with their three children to their current home in Peekskill in 1974. Often working two jobs, he was a carpenter with the North Atlantic Carpenters and worked nights at Reader’s Digest.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Serafina Terrana; daughter Maria Levy (Peter), son Joseph Terrana (Julie), daughter Cynthia Terrana-Astrologo (Carlo), and grandchildren Aliya, Michael, Rebecca, Mikayla, Cassandra, Francesco, and Aria; brothers Salvatore Terrana (Jane) and Dominic Terrana (Judith), and sister-in-law Joan Terrana; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by parents Giuseppe and Rosa Terrana, sisters Rita Terrana, M.S.C, Antonia Cannizzaro, and Rosalia Terrana, and brother Gaspare Terrana.
He was a presence that all would gravitate to with his gregarious and supportive demeanor. He could rule a dance floor and be the life of the party. He was a charismatic storyteller with a contagious sense of humor. If you weren’t laughing with him, you were engaged and listening to his many life stories of the time he spent in Malvizzo. He loved the endless family parties and hosted many through the decades. He was deeply loyal to his family and friends and love and respected by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00 am.
Entombment to Follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
