Joseph (Joe) R. DiBart (DiBartolomeo) passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 20 th, 2024. He was 105 years old.

Joseph is survived by his son J. Richard deBart, Richard’s wife Debra, and his grandsons Joseph Richard (J.R.) DiBart III and William Blair deBart, his brother Leonard A. DiBart along with numerous nieces and
nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his father Raffael DiBart (1968), Mother Angelina (Canzio) DiBart (1984), first wife Marie Claire (Salcito) DiBart (1981), his sister Mary (DiBart) Cavuto (1996) his
brother Michael J. DiBart (2012), and his second wife Donata (Cifichiello) DiBart (2017).

Joseph was born in Corato, in the province of Puglia, Italy on the 11th of January, 1919. When he was 2 ½ years old he immigrated with his mother, Angelina, and his Uncle John Canzio, to the United States. They
sailed on the Giulio Cesare from Naples, Italy in October 1922.

Joseph was the oldest of four children followed by his brothers Michael and Leonard, and his sister Mary. He grew up in Yonkers NY and attended Yonkers public schools until his graduation. Joseph
matriculated at Manhattan College for his pre-law studies before attending St John’s University where he earned his LL.B. Graduating in May 1942. Following Graduation, he took his NY State bar exam.

Joseph proudly entered the United States Army in July of 1942. Where he was stationed in Madison, Wisconsin. While in Madison he received word from his parents that he had passed his Bar Exam.

After completing his training in radio mechanics Joseph was assigned to the 100 th Bombardment Group of the US Army to serve his country during World War II. He was stationed in Thorpe Abbotts, England as
a B-17 bomber radio mechanic until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945 and returned to Yonkers, NY, where he became an associate with the law firm of Ceratto and
Neyer in the practice of general law. In 1952 Joeseph joined the law department of the City of Yonkers. 

In 1971 Joseph and his family moved to Peekskill, NY where he became Law Secretary to the Hon. Matthew J. Coppola in the Family/Supreme Court of Westchester County. He remained in this position
until his retirement in 1986.

In 2017 Joe moved into the Atria in Ossining where he quickly became a favorite of the staff and joined in the many activities offered sometimes taking exercise class twice a day. Joe was a pool hustler and
card shark. He enjoyed traveling and returned to Italy for his 100th birthday, where he was able to reconnect with his cousins Antonia and Giovanni in his mother’s hometown of Trani. In May of 2022, he
traveled to Washington DC with the Hudson Valley Honor Flight #2000. He was honored for being the oldest veteran on the flight and along with his brother the only siblings. Joe looked forward to weekly
Friday lunches he shared with family always ordering his favorite mussels fra diavalo, even though he declared it was never spicy enough (it was!)) and a beer.

He lived a long and healthy life and will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home located at 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church located at 381 N Highland Ave, Ossining, NY on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:30 am

Inurnment to take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. John's Law School.
