Obituary of Francis Thomas Brennan

Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Francis Thomas "Frankie" Brennan was born on September 13, 1988 to Debbie and Frank Brennan. At age 3, he became a proud big brother to Tara Alissa. Frank's grandparents, Pasquale and Barbara Mattioli played a huge role in making Frankie the man we all once knew. At age 6, he started going deer hunting with his grandpa every year up until he passed on in 2010. He was Pat's pride and joy, his "big man". Frankie was the center of many celebrations held at the now defunct Val Ray Boat Club along with his sister Tara. They spent many weekends down in the Bronx with their loving grandparents. At 10, he was best man at Tom and Esther's wedding, and did a fantastic job with the wedding toast. At 12, he became a godfather to his cousin, Anna, and once again couldn't be more proud. Frankie grew up in Cortlandt Manor, until age 18 when he went off to college with his best friend, Matt. In 2011, Frankie graduated from SUNY Delhi with honors, as a member of Omega Delta Iota Fraternity. Upon graduation, he was lucky enough to get into the Local 3 Electricians Apprentice Program. At this time, life began to take some turns for Frank. He then had to make some adjustments, as his struggle with addiction began to take over his life. Frank fought his addiction for years: he spent time in rehab, went to meetings and attempted to get his life under control. During this time after completing a round in rehab, Frankie moved down to the Bronx and lived with his beloved grandma, for about 6 years. While he was helping care for her, he was more than a grandson but like a best friend to Barbara. As the family spent their last holiday with Frankie on Christmas he seemed to be doing well and had been working as a security guard. On January 19th, 2017 his mother received the unexpected news that no parent should ever have to hear. In the end, Frankie lost his battle to addiction. We will always remember Frankie as the loving man and dear friend he was. When a family member struggles with addiction it takes a huge toll on family and friends as a whole. We pray for all other families affected by this disease and hope that individuals affected by it can find courage to confront their problem before it's too late. Visitation is Tuesday, January 24th from 3pm to 9pm. Funeral service will be held during visitation at 7:30pm. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Shatterproof ( https://www.shatterproof.org ). This site has a lot of new research on addiction and how to help affected families.
