Carol Ann Rohrbacher was born December 17, 1958 and passed away peacefully on December 8, 2016 at Northern Westchester Hospital, while surrounded by family and friends. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, cousin, Peekskillian, teacher, "hero" and community magnet. She was born in White Plains, New York to her mother and father, Dorothy and Robert Mahoney, of Eastchester, New York. Carol was the middle child in an Irish-American family of five; Robert, Maureen, Brian and Joan. Growing up, Carol enjoyed swimming/catching rays with family and friends at Coveleigh Beach Club in Rye, New York. As a devoted Catholic, she sought to change the world of disabilities. As a result, she pursued speech-language pathology to work with children with speech and language disabilities. Carol attended Iona College in New Rochelle, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree, and there, met her husband, James Rohrbacher. She then completed her Master's Degree at Adelphi University. After procurement of her higher education, Carol and James were married on August 6, 1986. They then moved to Peekskill, NY, where she became a speech therapist within the Peekskill City School District to share the strength of communication. As a speech therapist, she touched the lives of both colleagues and students. Carol and James happily welcomed their sons, Matthew, in 1987, and Neil, in 1990.She lived her life through her two sons, and strove to watch them grow and succeed every single day. She will be deeply missed by all family and members of the community. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 3-5PM and 7-9 PM at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December, 13, 2016, at 11:30AM at the Church of the Assumption, in Peekskill, followed by Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
