John P. Leardi, a life-long area resident of Peekskill, passed away on December 4, 2016. He was 86 years old. Mr. Leardi was a self-employed Heavy Construction Contractor-Entrepreneur in Peekskill. He was born in Italy on December 29, 1929 to Steve and Onorina DeThomasis Leardi. He was a graduate of Peekskill High School and served honorably in the US Navy Seabees from 1950-1954. On August 18, 1996 he married Connie Lounsbury in Las Vegas. John was a life member and past President of the Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill, former member and past Commodore of the Cortlandt Yacht Club and a life member of the Elks Lodge 744 in Peekskill.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Leardi of Peekskill. A son, Steven (Beverly) Leardi of Garrison, two daughters; Lois Leardi of Cortlandt Manor and Lisa Leardi-Lake of Granite Springs and step-daughter Kathy (Aldo) Novello of White Plains. Also survived by grandchildren; John (Kathy) Leardi, Steven “Odie” (fiancée Tricia Sharp) Leardi, Sandra (Robert) Murphy and Jessica Lake, great grandchildren; Morgan, Trey and Julia Murphy, Steven Michael and John Rocco Leardi, step-grandchildren; Valentino, Katelyn and Gianluca Novello. Predeceased by, his first wife, Joan (Barnes) Leardi.

Visitation is today, Tuesday, December 6th, 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, December 7th, 10am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
