John W. Gruenwald, 84 of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed on October 22, 2016. He was born in Peekskill, NY on September 17, 1932 to John and Lillian Conklin Gruenwald. After graduating from Peekskill High School in 1950, John entered the Air force, serving in the US and Europe, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After serving his country, John began a career of nearly 40 years with New York Telephone (Verizon). John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and gardening. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters, Gloria Barnes and Elizabeth Langer. He is survived by his nephews, Raymond (Terri) Langer, Ronald (Agata) Langer and Michael (Lisa) Barnes, his niece, Kathleen (FJ) Spinelli and several cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family will receive guests on Monday, October 24th from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
