Obituary of Arthur Clive Hearle, III
Arthur Clive Hearle III, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on February 19, 2019 at the age of 90 at the N.Y.S. Veterans Nursing Home in Montrose, NY.
Arthur was born on September 26, 1928 in East Orange, NJ but spent most of his life in the Hudson Valley in NY.
Arthur attended Croton Harmon High School and graduated with honors. After graduation, he joined the Army’s 82nd AirBorne as a paratrooper. He worked as a topographical draftsman for the Army after the war ended.
After his time in the service, he attended Purdue University, studying engineering. He then returned to Croton, NY where he met and married Carol (Bernhofer) Hearle (also a graduate of Croton Harmon High School) in 1952.
Given his intellect and education, he was afforded the opportunity to join a specialized team to learn all aspects of the Railroad industry, thus beginning his life as a Railroad man.
Arthur worked in various positions for the New York Central Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, Conrail, Metro North and eventually retired in 1995 as the Deputy Director of Capital Improvements where he enjoyed traveling around the world buying new equipment for the MTA.
Arthur is survived by his wife Carol, his daughters Kimberly (Nicholas) Monforti, Kristie (Michael) Simco, Kory (Jon) Shaw, and his four grandchildren Nicole, Christopher (Sarah), Carly, and Hudson.
There will be a private family memorial service at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Friday February 22, 2019.
