Obituary of Paul Edwin Schmittman, Jr.

Schmittman, Paul, Jr. passed away peacefully at the VA Nursing Home, Montrose, NY on May 2, 2019 at the age of 98. Paul was born in the Bronx, NY to Paul and Freda Schmittman in 1921.

Paul was a World War II Veteran, a founding and lifetime member of the Putnam Valley Fire Department, proud father of Paul Schmittman III, Carolann Wilson and her husband, Jim, and loving Husband to his wife of 36 years, Marcella. Also lovingly remembered by niece Rose Hill, and stepsons Ronald, Andrew, Robert, Dennis and Joseph Piehler.

A plumber by trade, Paul was respected by all for his skill and integrity, and for always being willing to lend a hand. Strong and independent, he continued working at his trade well into his 90’s.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the NYS Veterans’ Home at Montrose for the capable and compassionate care they provided.

A Fire Truck will be transporting Paul's ashes from Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home 414 Washington Street, Peekskill NY 10566 to the Tompkins Corners Cemetery at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 14, 2019
Those who wish to follow the Fire Truck in the procession may do so. 

Interment to follow at the Tompkins Corners Cemetery on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00am

Reception to take place at Putnam Valley Firehouse 12 Canopus Hollow Road, Putnam Valley, NY 10579 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Putnam Valley Fire Department.
