Obituary of Carmen V. Coley
Carmen Valeries Coley of Lake Peekskill, NY passed into eternal rest peacefully at her home on June 18th 2019 after a brief illness and went to be with her Lord at the age of 72. Born and educated in Jamaica, W.I., Carmen was the daughter of the late Enid Young. She was predeceased by her older brother Keith Chambers, Jamaica W.I.
At a young age, Carmen left Jamaica and relocated to Canada, and eventually to New York where she settled and worked several jobs in order to purchase what she called her “house on a hill that God gave her” where she raised her children. In 2005, she dedicated her life to Christ and joined the Assemblies of God Church and later began attending the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served faithfully up until the time of her passing.
Carmen is survived by four children Orville Jarrett, Charlotte, NC; Ann Marie Johnson, Albany, NY; Kim Sawyers, Greensboro, NC and Alana Parris, San Antonio, TX. All of whom she was very proud. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Wisdom and Noah Johnson, Albany, NY; Chantz and Ty Sawyers, Greensboro NC; her siblings, Norman Reid, White Plains, NY; Nolvin Chambers, Deerfield Beach, FL, Maurine Walton, Bronx, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Over the years, Carmen formed many good friendships and was well known and respected at her church and throughout her neighborhood. She had several close bonds including longtime friendships with Jasmine Johnson and Lucille Chambers.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home at 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566 on June, 30th 2019 from 10:00am to 2:00pm followed by a service of remembrance of Carmen’s life at 3:00pm.
A reception will take place at the Lake Peekskill Community Center following the service at 7 Northway, Lake Peekskill, NY 10537.
Burial will be on Monday, July 1st , 9:00am at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY 10579.
