Obituary of Catherine Mary Chesser

Catherine “Cathy” Chesser passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 73 on Thursday, September 12^th 2019. 

Cathy was born in Bronx, NY on February 10, 1946 to the late Margaret and Victor Pizzella. She later resided in Montrose and Peekskill, NY. She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Margaret Ward and husband Joshua of Poughkeepsie, NY and Thomas Chesser and wife Lisa of Poughquag, NY; and her six grandchildren, Sarah, Melissa, Alexa, Kristina, TJ and Johnna. Cathy was the eldest of 8 children and she is survived by her brothers and sisters; Carol Townley of Peekskill, NY; Barbara Theberge of Coronado, CA; Donna Walton of Poway, CA; John Pizzella of Hopewell, NY; Victor Pizzella of Apex, NC; Maryanne Dickson of Poway, CA; and Nicholas Pizzella of Wappingers, NY. 

Cathy graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1964 and later attended Mercy College. In school she excelled in academics and was highly recognized for her contributions to the debate team. She was a beloved grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by those who knew her. Cathy was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and supported several charities that were close to her heart. 

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY on Monday, September 16, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Rd, Cortlandt Manor, NY on Tuesday, September 17 at 10:00 AM.

Burial to follow at the Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor, NY.
