Obituary of Patricia Rizzo

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia Rizzo passed away peacefully at the age of 78, after a battle with dementia. She fought the disease hard, like the Irish woman that she was and had a zest for life, until the moment she passed.

During her career, she was the head of a staffing agency for home health aides, worked at the VA hospital and was an organic farmer. Patricia had tremendous faith in God and always kept it, no matter what life threw at her. One of her greatest gifts was passing her Roman Catholic faith on to her kids, her grandkids and her nieces and nephews. She was a very proud Mother, Grandma, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved her family with all her heart and soul. Her last months were spent at Putnam Ridge nursing home in Brewster, NY and was a joy for everyone around her. This allowed her to be much closer to her family too and make more memories. She loved painting, coloring, bowling, her pets and her small town of Canaserega.

She is pre-deceased by her mother, Dorothy Chardi, her step-Dad, Phillip Chardi and her father, Andrew Spaun.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence Rizzo of Canaserega, NY and her ex-husband Edmond Dannenhoffer of Wolfeboro, NH. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Ruocco and her husband, Richard and her brother, Robert Phillips. Patricia’s pride and joy were her four children- Timothy Dannenhoffer and his wife, Elizabeth of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Patrick Dannenhoffer and his wife, Sandra of Mahopac, NY, Kathleen Dannenhoffer and her boyfriend, Demetrius Grampus of Brewster, NY and Michael Dannenhoffer and his wife, Tricia of Woodbury, CT. She loved her grandchildren with amazing grace and is survived by Brandon Dannenhoffer, Alejandra Lopez, Kelly Grampus, Madison Dannenhoffer, Koryn Lindhjem, Ella Dannenhoffer and Annabelle Dannenhoffer. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews- Michelle Dannenhoffer, Lori Ann Lawthor, Joseph Romanchik, Daniel Romanchik and Matthew Phillips. We love you Mom! May the road rise to meet you and God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
