Obituary of Dan Moramarco

Please share a memory of Dan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dan Moramarco passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday July 16, 2016. He was 98. He was born at home, with the help of a mid-wife, on February 25, 1918. Dan was the second oldest of 5 children born to Nicola Moramarco and Anna Guacci Moramarco, immigrants from Altamora and Avellino, Italy, respectively. On November 16, 1960 he married Marie Renza at St. Clare’s in The Bronx. Dan worked as a cutter and pattern maker in the then thriving NYC garment district. He prided himself on his ability to work his way through the ranks in a very culturally diverse work place. Enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1942, Dan served dutifully in England. He was with the ground crew for B-17 and B-24 bombers and later served as drill sergeant, a role for those who knew him befitted his personality. He is survived by his adored wife Marie, residing at Drum Hill, Peekskill, N.Y., his brother Mike in San Diego and several loving nieces, nephews, and several great, great nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, 10am at the Assumption Church, Peekskill. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
