Obituary: Thomas M. McIntyre, Detective 1st Grade, Green Beret
A True American Hero
Born on March 02, 1950 to Thomas M. McIntyre, Sr. and Elizabeth McIntyre in Peekskill, NY. After graduating Peekskill High School Tom enlisted in the United States Army where he became one of the few elite Special Forces Green Berets where he bravely served two tours in Vietnam. As a Staff Sergeant in the Berets Tom was awarded the Bronze Star, RVN Gallantry Cross, Good Conduct, Meritorious Service, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Combat Campaign, Marksman in Pistol, Rifle, Auto Rifle, and Machine Gun, Purple Heart, as well as numerous other commendations. Upon returning stateside Tom trained the Cadets at West Point. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Continuing the provision and dedication to protecting and serving Tom became a City of Peekskill Police Officer. As a Police Officer Tom served side by side with his K9 partner that he adored and was the very first PPD K9. Tom then became a very highly decorated Detective 1st Grade. He also served as Lead Investigator for the NYS Commission for Domestic Fatalities headed by Honorable Judge Jeanine Pirro. He was loved by his brothers and sisters in blue as well as the City Of Peekskill.
Continuing his love and passion for the mighty German Shepherd after retirement Tom was the Founder and Master Trainer of Highlander German Shepherds.
Nobody was more proud of their hero than the love of his life Lorraine, daughter Alisia, brother Tim, and parents Mac and Betty.
Tom is survived by his ever loving wife Lorraine, daughter Alisia, brother Timothy, Aunt Jean, Aunt Delores, and Aunt Marion as well as numerous cousins, cherished nephew and nieces Devin, Camryn, Marissa, and Sarah. Also survived by his best friends Detective 1st Grade Walter Brovarski and NYSP Zone Commander Bob Welsh, and brother in law Danny Kirstein as well as ALL of his brothers and sisters in Blue.
Predeceased by his beloved parents Thomas (Mac) McIntyre, Sr and Elizabeth (Betty) McIntyre, Aunts, Uncles, and sister in law Joyce Berko.

Family visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00pm
Interment to take place at the Assumption Cemetery at 12:30pm.
In light of the recent worldwide occurrences dealing with the outbreak of COVID-19, the family of Thomas M. McIntyre would like to have his Hours of Visitation reserved for immediate Family.
In lieu of flowers the family of Thomas M. McIntyre, Jr. would lke donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
