Obituary of Muriel S. Nichols

Please share a memory of Muriel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Muriel (Mimi) Nichols, born on July 19, 1935, was a lifelong resident of Peekskill, NY.   She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John, and her 5 loving daughters;  Debbie Stefanicki,  Karen Skinner, Michele Vourliotis, Stephanie Stewart, and Mary Kim (Anthony) Cesarini.   In addition, she was the proud grandmother of Sean(Martha) Stefanicki, Ryan Skinner, Tyler (Erin) Skinner,  Shelby (Mark) Kennedy,  Kolby Vourliotis,  Van Vourliotis,  Samantha Cesarini, and Sydney Cesarini.  She was blessed with 4 great grandchildren;  Matthew, Alex, Christopher (Stefanicki), and Maddie Skinner.

She is also survived by her sister Ann (Stan) Karpf, and her nephews and niece.

The foundation of Mimi’s life revolved around her family.  She participated wholeheartedly in all family celebrations and gatherings.  She had an amazingly generous heart, felt by all who were blessed to know her. She loved the warmer months, and especially enjoyed all of our vacations at the ocean shore,  and also trips to Vermont in the Fall.

Mimi loved gardening, from planting vegetables to her beautiful flower beds, flowering bushes, and numerous solar décor.   She also enjoyed walking at the local park. As a devout Catholic, she was a parishioner for many years at the Assumption Church, and then later at the Church of the Holy Spirit.

After her daughters were grown,  Mimi worked at Bell Office Equipment, in Peekskill, for a few years as an admin,  and later for 20 years at PASNY (Power Authority State of NY) in Buchanan, NY.

She enjoyed her retirement,  especially spending time with her family.  She has left a lasting imprint on all our hearts and will be forever missed.

Due to the current global events dealing with Covid-19, the family of Muriel Nichols wishes to keep her visitation private.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:30AM.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mimi’s name to The American Brain Foundation
