Gale S. Peterson Obituary
Gale S. Peterson, age 66 of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away at home on May 31, 2016. Mrs. Peterson was a Registered Nurse. Prior to retiring, Gale had been the Head Nurse in Orthopedics at Phelps Memorial Hospital. She was passionate about helping people and helping her staff achieve their highest goals.
Gale was born on September 16, 1949 in Philadelphia to Thomas and Jean (Sinclair) Stevenson. Gale lived in Warminster, PA and graduated from William Tennent High School in 1967. In High School she played softball and was MVP of the field hockey team her senior year. Also while living in Warminster Gale attended Davisville Baptist Church where she often played the piano and sang with a trio. She received her nursing degree from Presbyterian Hospital in 1970. On August 15, 1970 Gale married Frederick Peterson. She served as a civilian nurse overseas in Frankfurt Army Hospital while her husband served his country in the US Army from 1972-1974. Gale loved the outdoors, skiing in the winter, hiking, biking, running and golfing in the summer with her husband.
Gale is survived by her husband Frederick of Cortlandt Manor. Also survived by a brother, Thomas Stevenson and his wife Terri of Jamison, PA and a sister, Barbara Robinson and her husband Frank of St. Petersburg, FL. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jean Stevenson of Chalfont, PA.
Visitation is Friday, June 3rd from 2-4pm & 7-9pm and Saturday, June 4th from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30am at the Funeral Home. Private Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to a cancer charity of your choice.
