Obituary of Kimberly Seger

Please share a memory of Kimberly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Kimberly Jan Seger announces her sudden passing on December 11, 2020, at the age of 49.

Kim was born May 9, 1971, in the Peekskill Community Hospital, in Peekskill, NY, to Henry David Seger. She grew up in Peekskill and Cortlandt Manor, and was a graduate of Walter Panas High School, where she was an accomplished gymnast. The youngest of three siblings, she is survived by her brother, Ken (Rebecca) and sister Stacy (Dan) Murphy, her beloved nieces and nephews, Frank (Samantha), Kayla and Sean Murphy, and Matt (Claire), Sarah and Michelle Seger. She recently became a great aunt to Devin Murphy (Frank and Sam’s daughter). She was also the beloved stepdaughter of Patricia McGrath, and stepsister to Frank McGrath and Kerry (Matt) Appel, along with their children Joey, Carly, Matt, and Grady.

From the day her first nephew (Frank) was born in 1990, she forevermore became Aunt Kimmie, which was a name she cherished and loved and meant the world to her. Aunt Kimmie has been the life of the party, the light that shined brighter than anyone, the smile that lit up the room, the one who belted out an opera and raised the energy level a thousand percent.

Kim was also an exceptional registered nurse (RN) who cared deeply about her patients.  She had an incredible range of experiences in her life, including working as a private nurse to billionaire Sidney Frank (importer of Grey Goose), a job that took her to San Diego for a year, to living on a yacht in the Bahamas, and more.  She earned her RN from Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers and held positions at such diverse places as Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx (oh the stories!), Hudson Valley Hospital, and White Plains Hospital.

From a very young age, Kim and her siblings were raised by their dad, Henry, a single father, which was unusual for that time and spoke volumes about the man he is and how much he loved his kids. The bond between Kim and her Dad was incredibly strong. Kim fiercely loved her Dad, spoke to him every day, and she leaves a giant-sized hole in his heart.  The blended Murphy-McGrath clan had a wonderful childhood together, thanks to Henry and Patty.

There are two other loves in her life: the New York Jets, and her puppies. She is back with her beloved pups Ralphie and Cali, both of whom passed about two years ago, and leaves behind her newest loves, Jetlyn and Madden.  As for the Jets, well, she was a bit frustrated this season (nothing new there), but she still proudly flew the flag and believed in the J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS.

Through it all, she was deeply loved. We will profoundly miss her.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill NY 10566, Monday, December 14, 2020,  from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
