Obituary of Salvatore Tavano, Jr.
Salvatore Tavano Jr. was born in Gimigliano, Italy and moved to Peekskill, NY at age 15.
Sal worked at Camp Smith and was a sergeant specialist in the Army National Guard 133 Maintenance Division for nearly 30 years until his retirement. He also worked at Ossining Correctional Facility for nearly 15 years.
He is survived by: his wife, Christine D. Tavano of Opelika, AL; one son, Salvatore (Roxanne) Tavano III ; three grandchildren, Salvatore Tavano IV, Michael Tavano and Rose (Aldo) Cochrane; two great grandchildren Louise and Mabel Cochrane; four stepchildren, Stephanie Clyde of Phenix City, AL, Joyce (Jerome) Walker of Montgomery, AL, Nicholas (Michelle) Porter of Ft. Myers, FL and Willie Porter of Opelika, AL; several dear cousins in Italy, Canada, and New York, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Graveside Ceremony will be held at Assumption Cemetery on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 11:30 am.
