Obituary of Beverly Ann Johnson
Beverly Ann Johnson (née Vogel) passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 85.
Beverly was born on June 10th, 1935, in Peekskill, New York to Rita (Toohey) Vogel and Jacob Vogel. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Peter Johnson, Sr. She is survived by her adoring children, Raymond Johnson, Jr., Kim Curtiss (Jack), Lisa Knipple (Bill), Leslie Vasta (Tom), and Jennifer Moran. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Meredith Vasta Brieant (Charles), Benjamin Vasta, Brynn Alvord, and Trevor Moran. Known as “Aunt Bevie” to her nieces, she is additionally survived by her loyal brother Donald Vogel, great-granddaughter, Avery Brieant, and her beloved rescue cat, Kitty. Beverly enjoyed a precious bond with her truest best friend, Ardeth Kempft Kessler, who was like a sister to her throughout her lifetime.
One of the best gifts that she gave to her family was the great pride she gained from her strong work ethic, retiring from full-time employment at the age of 80. Her beautiful smile, delightful sense of humor, and gracious intelligence, delighted all who met her. She was an avid reader who surrounded herself with books. She loved music and will be affectionately remembered as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley’s number one fan.
Beverly enjoyed accenting her cherished Peekskill, N.Y. home, on Dyckman Street, with seasonal décor, and her garden with plants and flowers. She was brought happiness and comfort by frequenting Depew Park and enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Hudson River.
Beverly was devoted to the rescue of animals. Donations in her memory to Hartman's Haven, a non-profit, all donation-supported animal rescue would be treasured and appreciated by her children, who always admired her ability to provide a loving and caring home to the many pets that always held a piece of her heart.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at the Church of Assumption,131 Union Avenue, Peekskill, NY on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 10:00 am.
