Obituary of Consolato Joseph Leonardo
Consolato Joseph Leonardo (Joe), formerly of Peekskill, N.Y. passed away on April 27, 2021, at his home in Woodstock, Georgia, at the grand age of “100.”
Joe was born on March 23, 1921, in Buck Mountain, Pa. He was the oldest son of the late Stefano and Frances (Paulmeno) Leonardo.
Joe was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Armed Guard during WW ll.
After being discharged from the Navy he began working with the A & P and continued there until his retirement.
He loved horse racing and traveling. He was a member of the V.F.W., Charter member of the Yorktown Elks Lodge #2324, and a 4th-degree member of the St. Michael the Archangel Council #11768 of the Knights of Columbus in Woodstock, Ga. Before moving from Peekskill he was an active volunteer at the Montrose Veterans Hospital in Montrose, N.Y., a proud Veteran serving our Veterans.
During his lifetime he loved spending time with family especially his Grandchildren. He made friends quickly, loved music, loved to dance, and always had a story to tell.
He was married to his lovely wife Sally (Sara Milmore) for 70 years until her passing in May of 2012.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Paul, Sammy, Joseph, and Anthony.
Survivors include his Son, Gary (Lilli), Daughter Maureen Keough (Mike), 7 Grand Children and 9 Great Grand Children. His sisters Angelina (Leonardo) Romano, Pauline (Leonardo) Salamone, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption, 920 1st Street Peekskill, NY on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 11:30 am. All are welcome to attend.
Visiting and Burial will be private.
