Dan and I were an unlikely duo whose paths crossed by chance. I happened to move to Peekskill in Jan 2020 before COVID lockdowns and was then forced from my Metro Noth commuter life to a work at home scheudle. The home I bought happened to be next door from a long time friend of Dan's he sometimes worked in the garage of. Our relationship began while I smoked ciggarettes outside in my new lockdown lifestyle and he worked in the neighbors garage. He was always looking for new work so as this relationship built he always offered that if I needed anything he was looking for work. He only wanted to make money to care for his mother Linda (and his Cat) as he transitioned from his trucker/mover career. I cannot express my loss for a man who cared for me emotionally as he helped me do repairs on my new house. I'm a (ex)scientist, computer guy, not someone that knows how to build like he did. He taught me so much as he did my home improvement. However, when he was using power tools and wanted to teach me about what he was doing then I would tell him "No thanks I need my fingers". My friends all knew "Dan the Handyman". I am lost without a great man that protected me throught a tumultuous time in my life. I will love and miss you forever Dan.
