Obituary of Sue H. Tudor

Please share a memory of Sue to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue H. Tudor on November 14, 2022 at the age of 82.  Sue was born to Susanna (Kelly) and Francis J. Hughes, Sr. in Peekskill, NY on May 23, 1940.  After graduating Peekskill High School, Sue became a cornerstone at what once was known as  Peekskill Community Hospital and was recognized for 45 years of dedicated service.

Along the way, she met her future husband at Joe's gas station down the street from her home.  Sue married Derek J. Tudor on April 23, 1960 and they went on to share three children together.  The family grew over their 60 plus years of marriage as they welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sue gained an appreciation for antiques, coronation pieces, and jewelry working for O. Rundle Gilbert auctioneers in her 'spare time' often saying she spent more than she was paid.

She loved talking to people and being involved in the community.  She was active with the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and the Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corp, serving as treasurer/shopper.  Being a poll watcher for elections was a wonderful place for her to reconnect with friends and neighbors.  It was almost impossible to go out with her and not run into people she knew...even on vacation in England.

Sue was predeceased by her parents, brothers Patrick Hughes, Francis Hughes, Thomas Hughes, and her sister Nancy Conrad.  She is also predeceased by her brother-in-laws, Bud Turner and Fred Koverda.

She is survived by her children Derek Tudor, Gilbert Steedley, and Rodney (Kristi) Tudor.  She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren Victoria (Tom) Cole, Derek Tudor, Amir Daniels, and Jessica Tudor and her great-grandchildren Madison Cole, Wyatt Cole, and Isabelle Cole.  She will be remembered by her sisters Maureen Turner and Lorraine Koverda, and sister-in-laws Joan Hughes and Margaret Ann Hughes.  Many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and those who were blessed to make her acquaintance will never forget her.

Her 1958 senior yearbook caption was true then and throughout her life..."Miss Livewire, chock full o'pep, school spirit to spare, Chuckles."

We will all miss your smiling face.
