Rita B. Grant, 91 of Peekskill, NY departed this earthly life on December 27, 2022 suddenly after being homebound for several

years.  Born on July 9, 1931, to Ilona and Andrew Benedek of Yonkers, Rita attended Commerce High School and had strong connections

to her roots in the Slovak community. Yonkers was her home until moving to Peekskill, in 1965.

She married Kieran J. Grant on November 22, 1953, and had three children, Kieran Patrick, Raymond Thomas, and Andrea. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Kieran, a Veteran Westchester County Deputy Sheriff killed in the line of duty on November 1, 1979. Also predeceasing her in death was her son, Kieran, of a heart attack on November 24, 1994, in Montana. She

is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathy Grant of Cambridge, NY; children, Raymond T. Grant (Susan) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Andrea Conneely (John) of Hopewell Junction as well as

grandchildren, Kieran John, Stephen Thomas, and Kasey Grant Roe.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Columbanus in Cortlandt Manor and a former board member of Nazareth Life Center in Garrison. Retired from the Kenneth Pregno Agency - a title

insurance company - her friendships there have endured.

Rita found peace and solace in praying the rosary.  She was dedicated to her faith, family, and friends and believed in the miracle of prayer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:30 am at St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Avenue, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
