Angelita was born on September 1, 1941 to Jose Antonio Figueroa and Dominga Diaz in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. She married her husband, Wenceslao, in 1958 and moved to New York full of hope as they began their lives. She lived a full life raising 8 children and building a home in Peekskill, NY. During her time in New York, Angelita served faithfully as an active member of her church community. She loved sewing garments for her family, gardening, and hosting dinners for family and friends. In 2010, she moved to Greenville, SC for a slower pace of life.
One of her most notable attributes was her selfless generosity. If she saw a need, she would do everything she could to fill it. Her generous heart and selflessness gained her cherished friendships which spanned many decades. Throughout her life, she was a trusted advisor to many as she always had an encouraging word for those who needed it. She was most known for her ability to make everyone at her kitchen table feel seen and loved. While she spent many years raising her family, she also enjoyed her vocational years at Tensolite and Mearl. She enjoyed the camaraderie with her co-workers who grew to be like an extended family to her.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Wenceslao Vega.
She is survived by her eight children; Arnaldo Vega, Frank Reinaldo Vega, Norma Vega Scott, Joseph Anthony Vega, Zoraida Vega Arroyo, Ruth Noemi Vega, Abimael Vega, and Raquel Belen Vega-Peterson.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren; Angela Scott Lee, Sydney Scott Dennis, Riccardo Arroyo, Joseph Vega, Jr., Emilia Vega Mikowski, Tressa Gabriella Scott, Victoria Iris Vega, Rebekah Angeline Arroyo, Todd Mason Scott, II, Wesley Abraham Vega, Ethan Joseph Vega, Connor Lebron Vega, and Abrielle Maia Vega and four great-grandchildren; Noelle Grace Mikowski, Justise Elianna Lee, Ayla Grace Lee, and Amora Xolani Arroyo.
In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love, strength, resilience, faith, loyalty, and selfless generosity.
