Obituary of Mary C. Wood

Mary Martin Wood passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the age of 87.

She was born on September 1, 1935, to the late Joseph and Constance Martin of Peekskill. After attending Peekskill High School, she worked at Graymoor and Readers Digest before beginning a long career at
BOCES of Southern Westchester until she retired at the age of 84.  She married Raymond A. Wood, Sr., remaining in Peekskill until moving to Garrison, where they raised their four children.  

Over the years Mary enjoyed being involved in the Continental Village Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, volunteering at the Hudson Valley Hospital Auxiliary, as well as the senior citizen group in Putnam Valley and Cold Spring. Mary did a lot of traveling with friends pretty much around the world and when she was home, she equally enjoyed a cup of tea poured from her glass kettle, usually while listening to WLNA.
 

Mary was predeceased by her husband Raymond, Sr.; her sisters Sue (John) Mullin, and Connie (Tom) Flynn; her brother Steve Martin, brothers-in-law Kenny Gonsalves, and George Wood; and her sisters-
in-law Joan Martin, Joan (John) Hayes, and Janet (Fred) Samuelson.
 

Mary is survived by her children Bernie (Eddie) Schrader, Raymond Wood, Jr., Stephanie Sackel, and Ronald (Nancy) Wood. 

She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren Heather (Jake) Baty, Scott (Nicole) Schrader, Lauren Schrader, Brian Sackel, Tyler Sackel, Kyle (Alexandra) Wood, Richard (Danielle) Mascalino, as well as her
great-grandchildren Aurora, McKinley, JT Baty, Alijah Schrader, Tristan Schrader, and Colton Wood.

She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Msgr. Joseph Martin, George (Joan) Martin, John (Joan) Martin, James (Shelley) Martin, Anne (Kenny) Gonsalves, and her sister-in-law Dianne (Stephen) Martin.

She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

To all that knew her, she was a kind, loving, and giving person.  She will be missed by many, especially her family.
 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10:00 am at Church of the Assumption, 920 1st Street, Peekskill, NY.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
