Obituary of Michael Francis Fogarty

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael F. Fogarty on March 22, 2023, at the age of 73.

He was born to Michael and Eleanor (Reynolds) Fogarty in the Bronx on November 29th, 1949, the first of their three sons. 

He was a loving husband to Diane (Cortazzo) Fogarty, his devoted wife of 51 years. They were rarely apart, and their love stood the test of time as well as the trials of everyday life.

Mike and Diane were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. Family was always Mike’s top priority, and he was a wonderful and dedicated father. Both in the Bronx and after his family’s move to Westchester, NY, he coached softball, attended various concerts, plays, and graduations, gave his girls driving lessons, and eventually walked them down the aisles at their weddings.

Mike spent his career at Con Edison, retiring after 40 years. He adjusted to retirement well, however, by volunteering with the Montrose Veteran's Home, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and golfing as often as possible.

His sense of humor and infectious good moods will be sorely missed. He was always willing to lend a hand, pass on sage advice, and make wisecracks, though not necessarily in that order.

He was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother Kevin Fogarty. He is survived by his wife and children, his brother Raymond Fogarty, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Mike will be greatly missed by his wife, Diane, and his daughters and their husbands: Jennifer and her husband Jonathan, and Jessica and her husband Joseph. He will also be sorely missed by his beloved grandchildren, William and Juliana, who will always have wonderful memories of their beloved grandpa “Pop-Pop.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:30 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Private interment to follow at a later date.
