Please share a memory of Rosalie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosalie Moraitis of Buchanan, NY peacefully passed away on March 23, 2023 at her daughter & son-in-law's home at the age of 97.
She was born on September 22, 1925, in Buchanan to the late John & Elizabeth (Moretti) Jenerose.
She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years Nicholas Moraitis (1986) and her longtime companion Alvin Morand (2006). She was also preceded in death by her sister Julia (Julie) Goss and brothers Anthony and Frank Jenerose.
She worked various jobs but her passion was in communications with New York Telephone where she wore many hats but favored operator services as a supervisor and hiring manager. She retired in 1986 after more than 30 years.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Christine & Charles (Chuck) Tanzella of Cortlandt Manor. Chuck was the son she never had and Jason Remillard and Tammiann Trudel were the grandchildren she never had. They were always there for her in her time of need, as she was for them, and they will always be considered honorary family members.
Rosalie volunteered at two local hospitals and the New York Telephone Pioneers, which included dressing as a clown bringing joy to special needs children. She belonged to the Christopher Columbus Society and Buchanan Senior Citizens. She sang for over 30 years with a local singing group, the Old Mill Singers, performing in several yearly concerts and traveling to nursing homes in the area to perform. As well, she was a Red Hat Gal, touring landmarks in NYC & Westchester County monthly which she always looked forward to. She traveled to many places & also loved the thrill of gambling, patronizing casinos near & far. She lived life to the fullest, was always willing to lend a hand, and shared the gift of living with all around her.
Rosalie was a woman of grace and style. She was known as a spit-fire who loved life. She worked from a young age and right from the start she was a fashion maven saving up and buying herself a custom-made mink coat in her late teens. She was always up to date on all fashion trends and enjoyed dressing to the nines throughout her life.
She was beyond a doubt the best mom a daughter could have, my first forever friend, who I know will always be by my side and I will always carry her in my heart.
