Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our dear Joan passed away on Friday evening.  She is survived by her daughter Sherry Flisser of Citra FL,  her son and caregiver, Frank Savage of Peekskill  NY, and her companion Peter O’Connor, also from Peekskill NY.  Her only surviving sibling is Jane Sheahan McLaughlin of Charleston, SC.

Joan was a grandmother to the late Eric Kirsten and Amanda Martin.  She was an aunt to Deborah Duffy of Hopewell Junction NY, Jacqueline Sheahan of Houston TX, Margaret Hunt of Wappingers Falls  NY and Michael McLaughlin of San Francisco CA. She was also a great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren:   Adrian, Logan,  and Faith.  Joan was predeceased by her husband,  Peter Savage, her brother Donald Sheahan and her sister, Margaret Moore.

After many years of waitressing at both the Washington Arms and Hugo’s, she then advanced to marketing/advertising executive with the Women’s News and the Peekskill Herald newspapers.

Joan will always be cherished for her love of life and great sense of humor. Through her commitment of forty years plus to  AA, she helped hundreds of souls also achieve sobriety. Joan will be remembered for her signature flower in her hair, her sparkling blue eyes and her willingness to help anyone. May God rest her.
