Obituary of Raymond Wimbert

Raymond Wimbert, 86, of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023.  Raymond was born on July 8, 1936, to Henry and Louise Wimbert in Mount Vernon, NY.   In 1958, he married Elizabeth (Bettie) Griffin and they had a beautiful life together. Ray and Bettie had two children, Raymond and Cynthia.
 

His first job was working on the Caption Kangaroo show, handling the animals. After completing high school, Ray joined the United State Army. Once he completed his service, he worked for Good Humor as head mechanic for all ice cream trucks. He then worked for TJ Lipton headquarters managing their fleet vehicles. He retired from TJ Lipton, and then worked as a mechanic for the Clarkstown School District.
 

In 2005, Ray retired and spent the majority of his time with his family. He was constantly looking to help others and would lend his mechanical knowledge wherever he could. Whenever anyone asked to borrow a tool, Ray always came with it. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He had a passion for animals, especially dogs, and loved going to the dog park with his pets over the years. His favorite breed was the boxer, and he rescued many over the years. Ray had a magnetic personality, and everyone gravitated toward him. He was always telling jokes and
trying to make people laugh.
 

Ray was predeceased by his parents Henry and Louise and his siblings Janet and Michael.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; his brother Henry (Annette); his children Raymond and Cindi;
 his grandchildren Michael, Sean, Cody, and Katie as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Chapel service will be held during visitation at 7:00 pm.

Private cremation to follow.
