Obituary of James E. Seymour, III

James E. Seymour, III, of Cortlandt Manor NY, passed away at the age of 67 on June 7, 2023, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Jim was born on February 6, 1956, to James E. Seymour, Jr. and Donna (Keesler) Seymour in Peekskill, NY. A graduate of Peekskill High School in 1975, Jim began his professional
career with I.B.M. in East Fishkill before transitioning to a career in Emergency Management in 1995 with the City of Peekskill, Westchester County, and the Private Sector.
Only behind the love for his family, was his love of public service. Jim dedicated his life to the fire service.  He was a 49-year member of Washington Engine Company # 2 of the City of Peekskill Fire Department, serving as Chief of Department from 2001-2003.

After moving to Cortlandt Manor from Peekskill in 2004, Jim served as Commissioner of the Lake Mohegan Fire District from 2008 to 2017, all the while remaining an active participant in both the Lake Mohegan and Peekskill Fire Departments.  Jim enjoyed annual hunting trips with family members, as well as spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved more than life itself.
 

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Sharon (Matero) and their four children Jimmy IV (Jean), Joey, Melissa & Cheryl (Phil) Guglielmini, and his four grandchildren Vanessa, Samantha, Isabella, and Domenick. He is also survived by his mother Donna, and his siblings Billy, Donna, Julie, and Danny.  He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.   Jim's father, James E. Seymour, Jr. predeceased him.
 

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 10:15 am at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
