Obituary of Diane Marie Squires-Surak

It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Diane (Squires) Surak on July 5, 2023.  Diane fought a long and courageous battle against cancer, and at the age of 64, she peacefully left us.  Diane was a successful business owner of a local beauty supply for 26 years and most recently worked at Camp Smith.  Most recently, she was the caregiver to a beautiful little boy, Matthew, who held a very special place in her heart and brought so much joy into her life.  Diane and her husband had a shared passion for boating in Lake George and they eagerly anticipated their annual tropical vacations.  

We remember Diane with great love and we will miss her dearly.  Her kindness, warmth, and giving nature touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Diane's beloved husband, George Surak, Diane's parents, Frank and Barbara (Dale) Squires, and Diane's mother-in-law, Angie Surak, survive her.

She is also survived by her loving sisters; Sandy Auth, Kelli (Raymond) Vaccaro, and Barbara (John Hildreth) Sawin.  She will be remembered by her cherished nieces and nephews; Nicole Sawin, Tina Sawin, Michelle Sawin, Frank Auth, Dillon Auth, Jake Vaccaro, Steven Barrow, and their significant others.  Diane leaves behind many other family members and great friends who were lucky enough to have known and loved her.  Diane will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in all of our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.
