Obituary of Frances A. Morgan

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of news of Frances A. Morgan on September 13, 2023.

Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who has now found eternal peace. Born on September 23, 1931, in Upper Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey, to Daniel Washington and Thelma Morgan, she was raised by her grandparents, Kenny and Lavinia Morgan. Proud of her Native American heritage as a descendant of the old Delaware tribe, her childhood was filled with joyous activities such as roller skating and playing the piano at church. Frances settled in Ossining, N.Y., with her late partner Robert Smith, Sr., and called it home. Frances developed her unique style and passion for fashion while working at Stewart Sewing Factory and later became a caretaker for the Kreindler family. She also enjoyed working with children as a Miles Square Bus bus monitor.

Frances was widely known for her kind and loving nature, and she held her family and community at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church close to her heart. Her compassion and generosity touched many people's lives. Her grandchildren fondly remember her catchphrases like "Ain't that something?" and "You be good now." Frances loved life and enjoyed activities like dancing, listening to music, watching theater productions, and taking road trips. She was even crowned prom queen at her senior prom at the Peekskill Community Center. Frances will always be remembered as a vibrant and caring individual.

She is survived by her loving family, including her sons Kenneth Morgan and Robert (Lashone), daughters Judie (Richard) Nash and Barbara (James) Dessesaure, grandchildren David, Brandon, Robert, Dievie, Monique (Duane), Lanice (Wesley), Kristen, Dawn, and Kelly (Merritt), along with great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Frances was also blessed to have a special friend named Jacqueline Johns. Her family and friends will miss her greatly, but her legacy of kindness and love will live on forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday, September 22, 2023, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 11 Rev. G. Franklin Wiggins Plaza, Peekskill, NY.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 am.

Interment to follow at Dale Cemetery, 104 Havell Street, Ossining, NY.
