Obituary of Maureen H. O'Brien

Our Dear Mother, Maureen Helen O’Brien of Peekskill, NY passed away on December 21, 2023.

She was born on October 18, 1936, in the Bronx to James McAneney and Ann Faye McAneney.

On August 30, 1958, Maureen married Martin O’Brien at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx.

Maureen worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Yorktown, NY, and was a Columbiette at Assumption Church.

She truly enjoyed dancing and traveling with her husband. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished all the time she

spent with her family and friends.

She was adored by many and will be missed terribly.

Maureen is survived by her three children, James O’Brien of Peekskill, NY, Patricia (Douglas) Smith of Walden, NY and Maureen (Michael) Wood of Hopewell Junction, NY, and seven
grandchildren, Michelle (Erik) Hartling and Nicole O’Brien, Stephanie and Matthew Smith, Sean Wood, Jackie (Andrew) Spicer and Katie Wood, her two Great Grandchildren,
Brooke Hartling and Michael Spicer.

She was pre-deceased by her Beloved Husband, Martin, her parents, her sister, Margaret “Dita” Frede, and brothers John and Peter McAneney.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption 920 1st Street Peekskill, NY on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:00 am

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery  

 In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen's memory can be made to the American Heart Association or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
