Obituary of Nino Mariani
Nino Mariani age 76, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 15, 1947, in Colledimezzo, Italy to Angelo and Giovina (DiLello) Mariani.
Nino left his hometown at 17 and moved to Vevey, Switzerland to work as a mason for 9 years. He and his wife Norina were married in Colledimezzo, Italy on January 22, 1972. In 1974 they
immigrated to Mamaroneck, NY, where they lived for 2 years prior to moving to Cortlandt Manor, where they started a family and built a family business, The Cortlandt Farm Market,
which he co-owned from 1976 – 2008.
Nino was a kind, loving, generous man with a contagious smile. He was an icon to everyone who met him. He was full of life and always brought joy with his accordion. He loved music,
dancing, and being surrounded by family and friends.
He was a longtime resident of Cortlandt Manor, NY. Devoted husband of 52 years to Norina Mariani. He was a member of the Columbus Club in Peekskill, NY, and an active member of the Colledimezzo Club in Elmsford, NY for many years.
Nino traveled back to his hometown, Colledimezzo, several times a year. His last visit was this past August with his wife, children, and all his grandchildren. In Colledimezzo, he began a
tradition, 30 years ago, of celebrating the Sant’Antonio holiday, playing his accordion, and bringing family and friends together. He enjoyed making and sharing his own soppressata,
sausage, capicola, tomato sauce, and wine, which are traditions he taught his children and grandchildren.
We promise to carry on his life lessons and traditions. His smile and kindness will forever be imprinted in our hearts.
Nino was a loving father to Natasha (Russell), Nora (Lawrence), Marsha (Russell); grandfather to Zachary, Matthew, Giana, Jake, Benjamin, and Luca Nino; brother to Domenico
(Mafalda). Son-in-law to Maria DiNardo and brother-in-law to Josephine (Leonardo), Gianna (Romualdo), and Lucia (Andrew); Uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews in the
United States and Italy.
Nino is predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Giovina, his brother Giovanni (Amelia), and sister Bianca (Donato) DiLello.
He was a devoted and loving friend to many.
