Obituary of Leonard Horne

Leonard Robert Horne, fondly known as Lenny, Len, Linkworm of Peekskill, New York, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1936 in Yonkers, NY and was the son of Anna (Machnic) and Robert Horne. He grew up in Yonkers and attended Saunders Trade School. He worked for 35 years at the Journal News as a machinist.

For over 20 years, Lenny was a proud Peekskill Fire Department volunteer as a member of the Centennial House Fire Department.

Lenny married the love of his life, Carol Curran on September 12, 1959. They were deeply in love and devoted to each other for almost sixty-four years.

Lenny was loved, respected, and admired by so many people, especially his family, and will be truly missed. 

Lenny is survived by his wife of 64 years Carol Horne; his children: Denise (Mike) Russo, Greg (Dawn) Horne, Michele (Stephen) Horne-Gallaher, Gary (Jen) Horne, brothers David and Joe Horne; his grandchildren Michael Russo, Gregory Horne, Nick Russo, Emma Horne, Addison Horne, Taylor Horne.

Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home 414 Washington Street, Peekskill on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association
