Obituary of James R Yetman
James “Jim” Yetman was born in Rhinebeck, NY on April 12th, 1938, the only child to Russell and Eupheme “Connie” Yetman.
Upon completion of high school, he went on to college and achieved a degree in industrial engineering from Fairleigh Dickenson University. After graduation, he then decided to serve his country and joined the US ARMY. Following the completion of his service, he entered the workforce as an industrial engineer at Mallory Battery, where he worked on the development of the copper top battery. Then continuing to work at Garinger Lighting.
Combining his degree and his lifelong passion for cars, he went on to become the lead mechanic at Broadway Auto and Fred’s Auto Repair before becoming a service advisor for Honda and Acura. He was especially proud of his all-original Fawn Beige 1962 Corvette.
In his personal life, he married Joan Bollenbach on June 4th, 1960, and had three daughters Dawn Evans, Cindy DeMuro (Wayne), and Kim Yetman. They resided in Carmel, NY where he enjoyed owning his first home.
November 3rd, 1984 he married the love of his life, Donna Dyckman, and gained a son Craig Dykman, and had two more children SFC Russell JAMES Yetman (Annie) and Amanda Bliss (Joseph).
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by: His brother-in-law Ernie Gurina and his wife Karen Gurina.
Twelve grandchildren: Richard Martin, Jamie Fernandes, Mark JAMES DeMuro, Anthony DeMuro, Christopher JAMES Evans, Anthony Rubbino, Brandin JAMES Rubbino, Cole Bliss, Kane Bliss, JAMES Grant Yetman, Travis JAMES Bliss and Quinn Yetman.
Ten Great Grandchildren: Kaylee, Alaina, Jackson, Alexander, Maycee, Myles, Cooper, Corbin JAMES, Aiden JAMES and Connor.
He is predeceased by both his parents, his grandson Scott Charles Evans, and his mother-in-law, Shirley ” Nanny” Gurina.
Jim, fondly called Pa by many, leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will be remembered for his love of classic cars, his ability to fix anything, his decades of season tickets to ARMY hockey at West Point, all the “deals” he found at the Stormville Flea Market, his quick humor, his catchphrase “Does it say Fisher Price on it” and the eight family members who bear the name James in his honor.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
