Obituary of John S. Agosta

John S. Agosta of Peekskill, NY and Boca Raton, FL passed away on March 19, 2015. He was 88 years old. Mr. Agosta, a Machinist, retired from the NY Central Railroad at Grand Central in New York City in 1986 after 43 years of service. John was born on October 20, 1926 in the Bronx to Natale and Angelina Scivoletto Agosta. He was a Merchant Marine during WWII and later served in the US Army during the Korean War Era in Okinawa. On February 12, 1950 he married Gloria G. Galati at the Assumption Church in Peekskill. John is a Life Member of the Washington Engine Co. in Peekskill. He is survived by six sons; John, James, Jeffrey, Joseph, Jay, and George, a daughter, Tina Marie Kirks, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren. Also survived by three brothers; Angelo, Samuel and George Agosta. Predeceased by his wife, Gloria Agosta. Also predeceased by his brother Joseph and sister-in-law, Nancy, his sister Josephine and daughter-in-law, Maryanne. Visitation is Tuesday, March 24th from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 25th, 10am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
