Edward J. Gurka of Montrose, NY passed away on December 14, 2014. He was 83 years old. Mr. Gurka worked as a Chemical Technician at EM Industries in Hawthorne, NY. He was born on July 16, 1931 in Yonkers, NY to Michael and Jean Kumanga. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Edward was a member of the American Legion Post 506 in Ossining and also belonged to the Moose Lodge. He is survived by two sisters; Linda M. (James) Adler-Esper and Joan F. (Pat) Viggiano and a brother, Donald F. (Becky) Gurka as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters; Josephine T. DiPasquale and Barbara F. Tighe. Visitation is today, Wednesday, December 17th, 4pm to 7pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, December 18th, 10:0am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
